CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Bank marketing has been defined as the creation and delivery of services that will satisfy the needs of customers at a profit to the bank.
From the definition above, it is seen that the customer who is the ultimate target of bank marketing must be satisfied.
With the cut throat competition in the banking sub-sector, marketing becomes imperative equally as the provision of services itself.
There is need for aggressive and persuasive marketing of banking services to protect a banks existing customers base and to acquire more chunk of the market.
Nation-wide, banking institutions are recognized as a very vital institutions for economic development of a nation and in this state specifically, the banking sector is said to play a more important role in the national economy than it does in any other developing countries.
In Nigeria, the business of banking was stated in 1893 by the bank of British West African while demand for banks owned by Nigerian businessmen or by the Nigerian government dates bank to over five decades ago.
Marketing and banking, though distinct disciplines can be said to be inter-related since they belong to the family of Business administration. This inter-relationship, however, is more and broader as for as their study is concerned.
Traditionally, banking is dominated by operation orientation, and marking has played a limited role typically being equated with public relations or land advertising.
And infact, the application of marketing techniques to service in general, and to banking in particular is a relatively new science thought the world. The Nigerian banking environment is a typical example. Marketing of financial services in fraught with diverse impediments including, lack of will structural approach and under-developed nature of available services.
Apart from conventional lending tools such as loan and over draft, availability of other services such as insurance and insurance broking, pensions, equity finance, leasing and hire purchase, computer bureau services and international services is close to zero.
Even though some banks provide most of these services, the limited to a few outlets.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE STUDY:
Marketing of financial services in our banking industries today still lacks the technical approach to creating a marketing culture at the banks. The greatest challenge for Nigerian Bank marketers is practicing what they preach. If a bank says it has all the information on a certain services, the people on the line should be in a position to answer question when customers walk in. Services are still very poor, although the increase in the number of banks has let to an intense competition even then the competition has not gone beyond that of attracting deposits through an array of innovations rather than a complete improvement in their services and meeting up with promised incentives. In the face of deregulation, liberalization, technological advancement and enhanced competition from banks and non-banks, marketers in financial services are assuming a greater role because without solid marketing culture.
Today, banks that want to survive and prosper should have more bank marketers who are adopt and trained in banking. This is true because, marketing is not about the simplicity of putting product x into the market place and hoping that y customer buy it.
It is using the resources of its paymaster organization to ensure that the needs of its customer are met” (peter Ellwood, October 1990). According to Peter Ellwood’ “the role of marketing is to facilitate an organization’s ability to sell brands, images, concepts, products or services to its current and potential

1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Seeing all the adequate measures such as internal control auditing, separation of duties, monitoring of branch operations, application of diplomacy actions etc. in order to control fraud and forgery in the Nigerian banking industries, still there is fraud and forgery in the Nigeria banking industry.
More still, banks screen the best staff for employment monitor and check dormant accounts, apply fraud detecting machines periodic rotation of bank staff etc, all are also another fraud control measures, despite all these, there is still bank fraud.
The next question a reasonable one will ask is “why does bank fraud still occurs:
This led me to write on this topic to really know, what bank fraud is, types, its effects on the economy, suggested control measures, causes of fraud in order to take this problem in the society over out banking industry.

1.2 RATIONALE OF THE STUDY
However, in accounting today the issue of fraud and forgery has been so ran pact among Nigerian banking institutions. Actually fraud cannot be easily be eradicated but with some control measure amendment can be made to control it. So the researcher had seen this problem of fraud and forgery in the country and has decided to bring out same solution to stop this or reduce the rate of this problem.
Now the question is that does it mean that all this measures for fraud and forgery control has no impact in the banking industry? Why do we still experience fraud and forgery despite all this measures such as internal and external another, generalities for fraud less, adequate call over etc. still we experience fraud and forgery. It is of this reason that I researcher had forgery. It is of this reason that I researcher has decided to know what fraud and forgery is all about in the banking industry, the native and forms of bank fraud to know same of the facilities that facilitate fraud, to know the actual infact of fraud in the economy. Having seen also this reasons it is of this note that I the research will libe to bring out same solution to put an end or limit this ugury institution in the banking industry and this has lead me to write on this topic. Fraud and forgery in the banking industry”

1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This research on fraud and forgery in the Nigerian banking industry will be of importance to many individuals who are bank customers and also to banker.
Since the research ex-rayed various types of fraud and forgery the bank will use it as an avenue to know the types of fraud and forgery that happened to then if any can made adjustment to its re-occurrence.
Also, banks will use the possible measure to control fraud an forgery in order to avoid bank distress and failures.

1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM / OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
The commercial banks provides their numerous customer
across the county with the full range of commercial money market banking products (service) but not related to currents savings and deposit accounts. Loans and overdrafts provision of international money market banking services, export credits and financial advisory services, farmer loan scheme, time deposit current account, statement savings scheme, house saving an loan scheme, first cash, UBA card, current account management services, money gram or international money transfer system, scholarship schemes.
All this products were aimed at generating profit to the banks concerned but due to change in market demand for these products and infavourable economic environment, there is a decline in sales of these product and subsequent decline in their profit performance (ANIBUEZE 1998) (BANKING PRATICE)

ABSTRACT
This study is motivated by the fact that federal expenditure and money supply as a tool on the rate of unemployment. But to which extent, these instrument have contributed either to worsen the problem of unemployment or alleviate it.
To investigate this problem, two hypotheses were formulated as follows.
Ho: There is no relationship between money supply and unemployment.
Hi: There is no relationship between federal expenditure and unemployment.
In testing the hypothesis, secondary data was used and analyzed using regression and correlation analysis as well as student t-test. The following are summary of the major findings from the analysis carried out in the study.
Federal expenditure and money supply contributed little to the reduction on the rate unemployment between (1980-2000).
The package of National directorate of employment programme conmcerning encouragement and generation of employment opportunities for most especially school teachers from secondary school and graduate from higher institution seems to be less vigorous since 1992 till date.
The inability of government of both federal and state levels to lift embargo on public sector employment from (1994 to August 1999) could be partly responsible for the high level of graduate unemployment in the Urban areas.
On the strength of the findings, the following recommendations were made.
The use of these tools (federal expenditure and money supply) need to be reviewed to enhance their potential for addressing the rate of unemployment.
Alternative tools may be used to complement federal expenditure and money supply towards the alleviation on the rate of unemployment.
The tool thrust should be the establishment of most micro-credit scheme to assist enterprising unemployed people to set on micro business across the country.
There is need to build up human capital, this mean improving the knowledge, shall, capacities and the mental and physical conditions of the masses.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Unemployment is an issue that has generated debates from every nook and cranny of the world. Its impact was more, felt during the industrial revolution when the dimension of man power absorption changed towards the consideration of skill as a fundamental pre-requisite. However, over the years, government around the world have been concerned with how the unemployment question could be answered – similarly, the Nigeria economy was characterized by severe unemployment, especially after the civil war which necessitated policy measures aimed at reducing it’s.
Different government since 1970 till date have tried different strategies in order to reduce unemployment, but the result still remain persistent unemployment resulting in a number of social and economic problems like crime, destitution, prostitution, corruption etc associated with it.
Index, unemployment in Nigeria has assumed a frightened proportion. It is even more frightened considering the fact that high rate of unemployment create poverty, misery and threatens social cohesions reduction in the rate of unemployment has thus become a major policy thrust of the government with the assistance of some international agencies such as the international labour organization.
Moreover, since early 1970’s the revenue base of the country has depended largely on the oil sector which has provided over 80% of total government revenue. The growth of resource in the sector private opportunity to initiate huge programme which substantially.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Scrutinizing the time series data on unemployment in Nigeria b/w 1960 and to mind 1980. Nigeria was at a period of economic boom, which means unemployment was something nobody could have dreamt about, but today unemployment has become so severe that nobody likes to embrace it.
However, unemployment in Nigeria is primarily youth unemployment, especially secondary school leaver for instance in 1986, they constituted 65-3 percent of all the employed in Nigeria. The figure for 1987 for this group was 70-7 percent when figures are desegregated by location figures for Urban unemployment were higher for all the years under survey with the exception of 1986. The national figures for unemployment was 6.1 percent in 1986. It tell slightly to 5-3 percent in 1986 for all the year data indicate that unemployment was higher in the urban than within the rural area.
Today, there is a nation wide high rate of unemployment particularly among the youth that are leader of tomorrow unemployment appear to be inherent in the nation economic system, first, because intentionally or unintentionally the policy maker do not resort to measure capable of reducing unemployment to an acceptable level.
Further
