1.01 HISTORY
Since creation, there has been quest by man to improve on the quality of his life and existence. This ever-increasing quest has been necessitated and propelled by the simple need to address the challenges posed by his environment. Borne out of this need, a number of inventions have been made in virtually every field of human endeavour. The computer is one of the most spectacular of such invention. It is a fool specially made for computation.
The development of computer can be traced back to over 5000 years ago when Chinese invented the ‘Abacus’, and the pathgros system of culmination early Egyptian civilization. There after various oother computation were develop. These ranged from manual devices such as the slide rule to purely mechanical device and in most recent time electronic machines. The electronic computer was developed in 19th century.
Today, the computer is prevailing in its effect and use. In combination with telecommunication devices, the computer is functionally reducing the world to a global electronic village in which space is no longer a barrier to the exchange of data and information when computer first came to existence the vast majority of people including educated ones knew little about it. It ease a mysterious tool to many, those who do not take time to find out how it works continue to regard it as a supernatural tool handed to man from above.
Computer has found application in virtually all field of human endeavour including Art, business, Education, Engineering, Medicine, science and in banking sector. Where I have taken a key study on effect of computerization in its operations.

Moreover, First bank owned the biggest Assets in the financial institution making its liability very profitable.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
We tend to ascribe human qualities to computer because they display these qualities more than any other machine. They also manage to give impression that, they put their minds to it.
Research estimated that as many as one third of information workers among professionals and financial managers one “cyberphobes” who resent computer, they mistrust the computer especially when they are told they have to use it in their work.
Another source of problem among the aged worker, is that their unfamiliarity with computer has turned them into the “New illiterate”. They hesitate to take training in computer use because they may be embarrassed to reveal how little they know. Not only do they not know how to work with it, they do not know to it works and a certain social stigma has become

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION
A commercial bank in a country can be described as the fuel tank which supplies oil that lubricates trade and industry in order to get the wheel of economic activities in motion. A commercial banks is no larger uniquely described in terms of being a financial intermediary offering demand deposit and commercial lending service. Rather, it is a financial intermediary that provides financial service in an evolving industry.
The financial service is affected by both the organization and the structure of the bank. The quality of financial services rendered by the bank has great effect to some extent in determining the degree of patronage by the public.
Competition among banks due to the rapid growth in the number of financial institutions is so high that a wide range of institution via with one another in affricating customers and offering the customers a verity of financial services. With the foregoing the study will endeavor to examine to what extent the organizational structure of the FIRST BNAK PLC, militate against its provision of efficient service to its customers.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Commercial banking in Nigeria dates back to the early colonial period. The decline in barter system of trade and the rise in financial transaction of the colonial government required an institutions in the form of a commercial bank for safety and transmission of funds. It was for this purpose that African banking corporation based in south Africa was invited in 1892 to open a branch office in Lagos. The African banking corporation was therefore the first modern commercial bank to open a branch office in Lagos in that year.
In the year 1894 its operation were taken over by the bank of British West Africa.
In 1899, the bank in Nigeria was established by the royal Niger company. In the year 1912, the bank of British West African absorbed the bank of Nigeria and exercised monopoly over Barclays bank started operation in Nigeria, other colonial, banks joined in the later year.
The indigenization exercise abolished the existence of the expatriate banks in Nigeria. Their existence was terminated. For some of the following reason:
1. The integration of the monetary and security market for liquid assets and investment of excess reserve and in effect retardation of the emergence of local money and capital markets.
2. The banks by virtue of their interlocking relationship with important transnational banks are assured of credit Accommodation.
3. The operations of the banks failed to take into consideration the credit needs of Nigeria.
The discrimination suffered by Nigeria spurred them to attempt to found their own bank. In year 1973 the banking industry was indigenized by the federal government acquiring 40% of the equity of foreign banks in Nigeria.
This indigenous commercial banks in Nigeria represent the effort of Nigeria businessmen to establish their own banks since the expatriate banks have not been particularity interested in giving them assistance they own business.
The first effort in this direction was the establishment of the industrial and commercial bank in 1929 which failed in 1930. The Nigeria mercantile bank was formed in 1931 but it went into voluntary liquidation in 1936.
Successful indigenous banking effort in Nigeria began with the establishment of the national bank of Nigeria in 1933. The next successful Indigenous bank the African continental bank was established in the year 1957. The pan Nigeria bank was established in the year 1951. Currently there are over 60 Indigenous commercial banks in Nigeria with numerous branches spread throughout the country.
In fact, the period 1947 to 1952 witnessed the experience of bank failures in Nigeria. It has been shown from available records that these banks also collapsed with the same rapidity with which they were established.
By 1954 twenty one(21)out of the twenty five (25) indigenous banks failed due to inadequate capitalization over trading, lack of technically skilled personnel and of course poor management. The failures were an affairs for banks officials, depositor and government.
The forty three commercial banks which responded to our survey reported having a total of 397 board members for an average of about 9 members per an board. No bank has more than 15 members and no bank has more than 15 members on its board.
There appeared to b no relationship between bank size and board size or size. For example, the biggest three banks and fifteen and thirteen board members.
Similarly, some state owned banks had between five and six board members just as state owned banks had between five and six board members.
The survey also revealed that out of the 397 board members, only 154 of them had equity interest in the banks they were directing.
In other word, 234 board members were not shareholders in the bank they directed. As would be expected, the directors without equity interest were primary representing state and federal government interests in the banks. The directors were government appointees.
The indigenous bank as a group have contributed significantly to the economic development operate mostly in the indigenous business sector and have extended credit to small and large scale indigenous entrepreneur .
Secondly, they have contributed to the development or potential depositor and banking habit W.A. (1970) in his development process stat

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION.
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Inflation has been a purpose facing many countries of the world especially the developing countries. It started during the early 60s, which results to the incorporation of economic policies as measures to reduce the effect of the inflation in the economy. And most of these measures taken by developing countries to check the problem of inflation are in the form of the use of central bank instruments of credit control. This is aimed at reducing the volume of money in circulation and maintaining it to ensure low cost of living.
Nigeria as other developing countries is also faced with the problem of inflation. In Nigeria inflation has a problem for policy makers since the 1990s. And ever since then to date the rate of inflation is on the increase.
In defining what inflation is various perspectives from different economists are as follows:
1. Whereby too much money is chasing two few goods
2. Whereby there is a fall in the purchasing power of money.
3. Where there is an increase in the amount of money in circulation.
4. Where there is an excess of wage clearing over productivity growth.
For the purpose of this study inflation is defined according to Ben Chukwuemeka Anibueze Banking Practice volume three as a sustained rise in the general level of prices of most goods and services that is to say that there is always and increase in price without inflation.
The causes of inflation in Nigeria can be attributed to four major factor which are money supply, the nature of government expenditure and policy, limitation in real output and strong influence of imported inflation.
The supply of money would be affected due to increansement in wages and salaries especially if there is no increansement in productivity and also increansement in petroleum pump price which the federal government has initiated can also result to inflation.
Also, government expenditure can create or increase the rate of inflation.
This is due to some uavaidulde government consumption expenditure on the economy.
The central bank of Nigeria has tried to regulate the liquidity position in Nigeria economy through its credit guidelines some of which are:
(a) Control of the rate of expansion of commercial and merchant banks aggregate loans and advances.
(b) Guide the banks in channeling their credit to difference sectors of the economy
© Regulate the banks leading into a view to ensure that they exercise prudence in their granting of loans and advance.
This guideline helps in regulation of expansion of money circulation.
Thereby curtailing inflation in the economy.
1.2 PROBLEM OF THE STUDY
The central bank of Nigeria being the upper bank in empowered with the responsibility of formulating and executing monetary policy in Nigeria.
There are many objectives behind the formulation of monetary policy, which varies with time and places. In Nigeria they stand as
(a) Maintenance of confidence in Nigeria currency through measures to stability domestic wages and price.
(b) Support for increasing level of agricultural and industrial output.
(c) Effective arrangements for supplementing current government expenditure and for providing developing finance.
The bank of Nigeria was established by act of 1985 and empowered to use certain monetary control instrument available to it. With these instruments of credit control, cash and liquidity ratios are being regulated.
The central bank of Nigeria can also reduce liquidity by completing
