Many concessions are given to computer industries. the main development of computer education centers on such estate are the light which depend primary on browsing orientation and ready supply of labor

The purpose of computer education centers is to alter to process materials that they serve new ends and to satisfy different requirement. Computer is normally carried on a factory and makes use of mechanical power. If machine is not used, the activities may be classed as a handcraft rather than manufacturing computer education centers. This can be made possible only by the improvement in the means, of exchange, transport becomes easier and a money economy more general.

2.     Does the lack of capital for investment have adversely affected the location of computer education centers in Egor?

3.     Does the absence of infrastructural facilities of computer education centers contribute to backwardness of Egor?

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Teaching and learning activities are interesting when instructional materials are used effectively and efficiently in a classroom-teaching situation. It is necessary for the teacher in the learning of English in Nigeria to use visual aid material as instructional tools in order to make their teaching more interesting that is to arouse the learning interest, sustain their attention for effective learning. But the problem in many secondary schools in OSUN State as else where in Nigeria is that of the instructional material like audio/visuals are not available and even where they are, the teachers do not use them effectively.

The reason for this attitude may be because teachers engage themselves in so many other relevant or irrelevant activities. The desire and haste of some teacher to cover the syllabus or scheme of work instead of making their teaching more meaningful and imparting. Often time some teaching goals depend on material for planning and utilization of instructional material for some teacher the production of instructional material is only for passing their examination the training college and not for actual use in the classroom.

There is also problem of non-availability of audio/visual for which teachers alone may not be blamed. The heads often do not motivate the teacher in terms of providing instructional materials.

Furthermore, most school lack of funds and as a result, they find it difficult to purchase the required audio/visual aid.

Generally, failure to use audio/visual material in the teaching of English language result in lack of interest among student in learning activities which affect performance in school and pupils not being able to assimilate lesson at their own rate and pace.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

This project attempts to examine the problems of classroom control and management in Ujevwu primary school in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The idea behind description in schools is not put across a point of view about the proper definition of school discipline but to bring together contrasting opinion and attitude so that the reader can be giving the background on which to base his own conclusion.

Barry {1973} regards discipline as one of the most controversial topic in education. It is an area of interest that closely involves many parents and teachers who feel the need to refine school values to take account of changes in the social environment but dare not always sure of the best way to go about the job.

Neils {1990} has defined the discipline as near total freedom to youngsters to find their own philosophy of behaviour and relief or would it be wiser to seek to pressure some or all of the traditional standards as an essential bulwark against the risk of social disruption. The banjo regarded disciplines as the first law in a good school for without it school life cannot fulfill its purpose.

Adeyemo {1991} defined discipline as to control of the children by the teacher as applicable to a teacher of school life. Broadly speaking, it is the training, which produces self-control, orderliness, obedience and power of co-operation in the children.

Farret also regarded discipline as measure by the extent to which children exercise self-control and willing apply themselves to the tasks appointed by their teachers.

Derek {1971} has defined discipline as the highest order of control and imposed by the pupils, rather imposed from outside by the teacher.

Homwens and Popular O. {2005} regarded discipline is usually perceived as the preservation of order and maintenance of control.

These are traditionally the outcomes of control and management techniques, however, we feel that this view of discipline is far too simplistic. Teacher must make on the spots, slit-second decisions and must made spontaneously when management techniques to solve problems that arise in the classroom. Classroom management principles must be understood and developed in light of appropriate and instructional outcomes as determined by teacher-student situation factors. The attitudes that students developed in formal classroom situations are influenced by the classroom management skills of teacher.

In my own opinion and all the authors who had defined disciplines in one way or the other, I therefore add that discipline its self controlled and willing to accept order.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Ignorance control of the student’s is associated with the problems of primary schools. The life of students are shattered with the passing of incorrect information among themselves, they get misled by others.

Today, the problems resulting from the lack of discipline to our youth are numerous. As a result of indiscipline, several unwanted behaviour are find among the students, such as disobedient, disorderliness, dishonour and lack of self-control are find in them.

All these have led to inability to concentrate, poor school performance deterioration of mental health of students, high rate of school drop outs, increase in illiteracy and over population.

This study is also carried at finding how indiscipline influence students. It educates the students on how to produce unwanted behaviour among themselves. And to make a case for the need to teach discipline in primary school beginning from primary one to six. To seek or to find out the various ways in which discipline can be taught, who to teach it, and the goals to be achieved from teaching discipline.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study is therefore to sample on the issue of the introduction of discipline in order to also attract the attention of both the educationist and non-educationist to the effect of discipline. The impact of discipline on our primary schools and the academic performance of the students by the academic staffs and the primary schools in enhancing socioeconomic and political development of the nation.

RESEARCH PROBLEMS

1.            Students feel that indiscipline will save them from certain embarrassing situations.

2.            Students feel discipline should be taught at home.

3.            Students wants discipline to be introduce into the school curriculum.

RESEARCH QUESTION

Based on the above stated problem the study shall answer this question.

1.            Is there a relationship between discipline and classroom management.

2.            Are there professionally qualified teachers to teach the problems of classroom control and management in primary school?

3.            Are there instructional materials for teaching and learning classroom control and management?

4.            Are the teachers in the schools exposed to seminars and workshops?

5.            Do the teachers adhere to recommended method of teaching classroom control and management?

6.            Do students possess good behaviour while teaching on the classroom control and management?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The importance of this study is to bring to the knowledge of the public the possible solutions to this problem of classroom control and management and the effect of discipline in primary school system.

Discipline is important, for it involves all the subjects in the school time table and also include the students, teachers and parents, communities, education officers, policy makers in one way or the other.

To achieve this, the life of school must be based on mutual respect for all its members and understanding of the difficulties and problems they face. The principal and teachers have responsibility for the whole area of working relations within the school community, the principals or head of unit’s doom must never be closed to any students parents, staff, members, education officers and policy makers and he must also be prepared to listen at any time to apparently trivial details which are of course of vital importance to the complainants.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

Discipline is not peculiar to some selected primary schools in Udu local government area alone, but to all primary schools in Nigeria. It is necessary for everybody not just students or adolescents.
