DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED PERSONNEL DATABASE FOR A TERTIARY INSTITUTION
 (A CASE STUDY OF IMT).

This study was carried at to verify all the manual processes involved in personnel database management for a tertiary institution and to seek for away of automating the system for effective operations.
Since there is continuous advancement, high productivity of labour and operations is best using machines in this revolution. An indispensable tools; computer and its application; resolving the area where the attraction is needed.
In this project, the software engineering principles were applied in the analysis, design, coding, and testing of the software.
In the development of the software, visual basic programming language was used due to it’s enhanced graphic features and a manual is also provided. At the and what was tended to resolve was achieved and at the same time it is user friend (i.e. object oriented)
CHAPTER ONE

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1     BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Database is a standard term covering computer based services, which provide information in response in specific requests from users. The data may stored in documents, microforms or computer code text and graphics (user interface) for references.
Database management as regards to personnel information system evaluate the process of managing and monitoring employee or members of an organization as a means of gaining maximum efficiency. As the organization benefit or offer to the public on subscription basis; the output services is either a physical document or computer data presented, say on a video display unit.
Further more, the information is data/stored to a disk; perhaps is when the user supplies then is to locate a copy of the document and deliver it to the user. More after than not, however information need are expressed or outputted in terms of request for data, such as how many employee are being eroded in the organization? Or what is the salary level of an employee? – To answer such question reference must be made to records such questions, reference must be made to records stored as the computer coded data. This involve searching and retrieval of records stored on disk.

The institute of management and technology has her inception on October 1971 and later after promulgated on July 1, 1973; nevertheless, the institute had being in existence as a two separate collages that is the collage of technology and institute of administration but joined together are now the institute of management and technology; also their separate two workers are joined together and managed in consonance with their assets.

1. 1. OBJECTIVES / AIMS OF STUDY

Due to the inefficiency surrounding the manual database management in the personnel department, it was felt that a study of this nature will clarify the causes of the problems being faced by the concerned departments and to map out the necessary solutions/or measures and techniques to the problem.
As to regarding this solution, the manual processing of personnel information was found to be cumbersome, tedious and ineffective which lead to inaccurate  and unreliable results. It is the ail of this work therefore, to remedy this ugly situation by making the task involved to be easy and effective thereby making provision for accuracy and reliability of this result.
More also, this work has the objective of correcting all the mistakes being while operating a manual made; that storage and retrieval encounter delay of storing and retrieving information to work with.
Lastly, loss of file are encounter and this work is has the objective of retrieving or stopping invasion by intruders to the database system.

1. 1. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

There has been this problem of too much work for the personnel officers in the institute. Owing to the growing population of staff in the institution, the personnel department is faced with hips of file. At times, sorting out a particular staff file takes almost a month.
Also there has been cases of missing files due to lack of security in the office and the poor filling system in use, the personnel files at times get lost and it then becomes difficult to access the concerned staff information.
More also, the two much files could tend to unreliable results as to sorting a particular level of record as to its range or conforming to a particular request of arrangement.

DESIGN AND STIMULATION OF AN ELECTRONIC FUND TRANSFER SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF FIRST BANK NIGERIA PLC ENUGU BRANCH)

ABSTRACT
Simulation as scientific process involves critical analysis and initiation of the real life of events using an electronic device, especially computer system and networking.
The feature grasps the utilization of these processes and transforms the stable system into acceptable or intended result.
After having viewed the constraints in series of activities in banking sector in the country, an attempt was made regarding utilization of the works computer system and network connection do understanding this concept an earlier attempt recalls the designing a new system that can resituate banks workers from the slumber working equipment (Manual System).
Realization this in the First Bank Nigeria Plc calls for analyzing an old system of money transfer forming Electronic Fund Transfer.  This excludes special software that is unbreakable in feature that can run the organizational fund transferring system. However in the security system the program contains more security features that enables banks workers to determine the owner of the fund transferred.
Having seen and observed this system towards developing safer and easier method of fund transfer yield more effort and zeal in to the analysis of this system to sound academic pursuit in institute of management and technology.  Perhaps this calls for implementation.

ORGANISATION OF WORK
This study has been organize in seven different chapters.
Chapter trashed out the statement of the problem background of the study, purpose of the study its aims and objectives, scope or delimitation, limitations or constraints, assumptions and definition of terms
Chapter two review of related literature while chapter three dealt with the description and analysis of the existing system.  The fact finding method used, organizational structure, objectives of the existing, system input process, output analysis information flow diagram, problems of the existing system and justification for the new system.
Chapter four presented the design of the new system.  Its output specification and design, file design procedure chart, system flowchart and system requirements.
Chapter five looked into the implementation the program design program flowchart, pseudocode, source program and test run.
Then chapter six was the documentation.
Chapter seven, this is for recommendation and conclusion and reference comes last.

1.0     INTRODUCTION
          Electronic fund transfer system is an organized process of transferring fund through electronic means by the use of computers where debit and credits are made into ones account.         
Having gone to First Bank Nigeria Plc, as one of the Commercial Banks that has ventured in Electronic Fund Transfer (ETF).  The system allows a customer account to be credited electronically within 24 hours anywhere in Nigeria it provides a more suitable and cost effective way of transferring fund when compared with the traditional means such as mail transfer and telegraphic transfer.
It is mere secure and time is saved when money is transferred through the Electronic fund transfer such money (fund) is transferred electronically by the bank through their accredited Branches or Agents.

1.1     STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS
          Fund transfer is a job, which involves complex data and tedious calculation.  Human beings cannot execute the job very urgent and faster, that is why the need for the activities of transferring fund automatically.
Manual transfer wastes too much time and it is generated very late, where there are many customers to attend to, it takes weeks to prepare the transfer which may affect the purpose of the transfer.
Some are short paid and thus makes the system unreliable.
The use of files, papers and file cabinet cost much and occupies much space.  It also wastes a lot of time during information retrieval.

1.2     PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
          Generally the purpose of the study is to find out a way towards enhancing better method which will be geared towards alleviating the frustrations customers undergo in a bit to collect fund credited to their account.  This is because instead of waiting for months, the entire transaction can be finished within a minute.
In addition, the offices in charge of the fund transfer will gain from this study because the problems they are facing have been detected and solution recommended.  The new and processing storage of data and generation of report required by the management for decision-making and perhaps for the development of the organization.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED COMMODITY EXCHANGE INFORMATION SYSTEM. (CASE STUDY OF ENUGU STATE)

ABSTRACT
The need to develop a Computerized Commodity exchange information system that will provide information and keep record of transaction made on commodities has become pressing due to the rapid growth of industries that make use of these commodities and the inefficiency of manual keeping of all transaction made. The information was got from the ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Mines and power and Raw Materials Research Centre to develop a software package that would achieve the aim of this project.
This software package is the project I developed to be useful to both large and small exchange market, ministries, industries, and other private establishments that use locally produced commodities especially those produced in Enugu State.
ORGANISATION OF THE WORK

This section explains how the project is arranged.  The chapters and their purpose are carefully stated and easily understand how this project is designed.
CHAPTER 1 of this work is about the introduction and how the project come about.  It tells the problems and objectives of this project.
CHAPTER 2 tries to relate the project topic and some other topics.
CHAPTER 3 has to do with the investigation of the present system and its operations.  The evaluation of the existing systems.
CHAPTER 4 explain the design of the new system and shows chart of the different operation of the new system.
CHAPTER 5 explain the overall testing of the different modules of the program it also contain the program flowchart, pseudocode the source program.
CHAPTER 6 contain the documentation and manual that will help user understand the system orientation.
CHAPTER 7 the recommendation and conclusion the  appendixes that contain the program output and other necessary information.

Commodity exchange information system Enugu State as a case study is an information system developed to provide necessary information about commodities produced in Enugu state.  It includes records of transaction made on these commodities.  These items range from Agro to mineral – based commodities of the state.

The problem has been largely on how to locate commodities where they are produced and the record in the state. This includes grading of commodities. Standard measures and price attached to each grade.  This computerized system is aimed at providing a remedy for these problem areas.

This study is of great importance to the entire public and me.  I will from the study develop in my area of study, and I will be enlightened more in the subject matter at hand.  Through the research, I will be experienced in my profession and from the interaction I made during interview with various individual in various offices concerning my research work.  I will learn a lot more things related to my project topic.
The people in the area will benefit from this study.  The problem they are facing has been detected and a solution recommended.
The new system will help to ease their burden in collection of data, store it and generate report if required for management decision and perharps for the development of the industries involved.
Enugu State of Nigeria, make up local government area is endowed with many rich natural resources Examples are crops, vegetables, fruits, mineral produced coal, etc.  These resources are located in different town throughout the state, moreover individual, groups, commodities.  Hence there are business transaction taking place daily in these commodities.  These is therefore need to keep record of the information required on how to locate and buy these commodities when needed.  This when done manually can not give details of all that is required and involved.  Hence the need for this exchange system.

I have to recall here that this project work is an information system.  And as an information system, the aims and objectives is to serve the user with absolute information concerning the area is being built for.  Listed below are the collected aims of this project work as contained or the limit of my research.
