ABSTRACT

The aim of this project is to design a cash receipt generation system for a supermarket taking into consideration their stock, sales and purchases in view of achieving the an automated receipt printing thereby dropping the manual receipt issued by shop owners during transactions.
This will go a long way in eliminating mismanagement and maintaining a higher degree of accuracy and more reliability in the business transactions.  The software developed was implemented using Visual Basic 6.0.

                        CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1     Background of the Study
When the amount of data grows in a company, there is a need for a database system to store the data regularly. The need for an art gallery database includes storing data information, sales information for monthly reports.
This project presents the development of data management systems for holding cash information like the products sold, monthly flow of cash, and balance sheet information for the month. All this will be explained in detail in the following chapters. The objective is to design a data management system that can store information like art work, and sales information.
In developing the database system, there will be a need to decide what the best tools are for this. The client selected Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, since they were familiar tools she works with. In order to achieve these goals, important questions that are asked include what is the information that will be stored in the database, how many tables will be needed and how will these tables relate to each other. These are some good points to note when designing a cash register.
The Microsoft Access is where the work begins, it includes creating the models for each table in the database, analysing the content of the tables, designing the User Interface that the client will use to input data information into the database. The Visual Basic  will be used for creating dynamic interaction in the database, like generating the receipt reference number for each customer that buys goods, and wants make the payment online.

1.2     Statement of the Problem
The problem and inadequacies inherent in the manual receipt issued by shop keepers,  and sales control system in business transactions, where many items are involved, the manual cash receipt system becomes tedious and big to handle.  Error inherent in manual calculation and balancing of sales leads to excessive cost operation and hence may lead to wrong decision taken by the managers of a business firm.

1.3     Purpose of the Study
This purpose of this study is to design an online cash receipt generation system for supermarkets.

Abstract

An aptitude is a component of a competency to do a certain kind of work at a certain level, which can also be considered “talent”. Aptitudes may be physical or mental. Aptitude is not knowledge, understanding, learned or acquired abilities (skills) or attitude. The innate nature of aptitude is in contrast to achievement, which represents knowledge or ability that is gained. In this research work, a new system is designed to help build a web based apptitude test system for recruitment purpose. The system maintains a database of aptitude test questions which applicants are expected to answer.  The system scores the aplicants at the end of the test and publish result of the test. Hence a search engine is designed to query the system for a particular category of applicants based on their applications and scores in the test.
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1     Background of the Study
Deciding on a career is an important decision and it is natural to feel confused or even stressed out about it. One popular method that is used by many people is a career assessment test. These tests help to suggest fields and types of jobs that the person would most likely enjoy and find rewarding in the long term too. A secondary aspect of the career assessment quiz is to help people learn more about their strengths, weaknesses, and interests.
Career assessment quizzes use many factors to determine compatible job types for people. Most commonly, they ask people about their skills, values, likes or dislikes, and their abilities. By measuring the strongest and weakest areas in each of these categories, the test can deliver more compatible and accurate results. Keep in mind that there are various types of career tests, such as aptitude (or skill) tests, personality tests, or tests based mostly on interests.
Aptitude tests hone in on individuals’ strengths and key skills. In this manner, it helps to pinpoint the jobs that they would be good at. For example, a typical career aptitude test would ask questions about verbal and numerical reasoning, language skills, perception, technical skills and special abilities. While this can help to provide jobs that the person would excel at, there is a possibility that they would not find the nature of the job interesting.
1.2     Statement of Problem
Conducting aptitude test is one of the most difficult things during the process of staff recruitment. Employees are invited to seat for the test and at the end, marking the papers takes a lot of time. Result of the test delays for some days before it is out. These problems make recruitment process cumbersome. Therefore, there is need for a web based aptitude test system for recruitment purpose.

1.3     Objectives of the Project
The general objective of the study is to :
(i)     Develop and maintain a database of applicants in every field of work.
(ii)     Design an online aptitude test system
(iii)    To publish result of the test online.
(iv)    To develop software that will aid management in recruiting staff.

ABSTRACT

Voting is a very important process in the Nigerian political system. It is one of the means and the most effective method of ensuring a legitimate government through popular participation. To enthrone sound democracy and stability in the political system of Enugu state, a system of refigure voting has to be put in place. The system would among other functions discourage double voting, forging or hoarding of electoral papers, massive transfer of ballot papers destruction of ballot boxes, inflation of election figures and unnecessary  delay in pronouncement of election results. This could be achieved by computerized voting process to remove the difficult administrative tasks of the conduct of election in Enugu state. It  is the basic forms we set to achieve in this study.
Therefore this project aims at alleviating the incidence of rigging and introduction of an organized procedure of voting which is the bane of socio-economic and political progress in Enugu state.

CHAPTER ONE

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

    1. INTRODUCTION

Voting is a means of selecting or choosing leaders. It does not apply only to local governments, states and federal government of Nigeria but also in different institutions and social organizations. Therefore, the conduct of elections in a democratic society is very important not only because through it a change of government is effected but also because voting is the main form of political participation for most people for democracy to be sound and smooth, it should be enhanced on election free from fraud.
Many centuries ago, most societies were societies were primitive and had not evolved a system of voting  to elect the leaders that will govern then and promote societal harmony and peace. This means that people have to devise a system whereby a leader or a set of leaders have elected from the ranks of the people. At that point the idea of voting and being voted for became important and necessary. But before an individual can cast his or her vote, there are certain conditions to be met, one of which is to be registered as a voter.
Since independence in 1960, the Nigeria political scene has witnessed incessant upheavals, wide scale dishonesty and societal bitterness, which in most instances, degenerated into lawlessness and destruction of lives and property. Theses unfortunate situations paved the way for and served as spring boards for the emergence and growth  of unskilled democrats and military leaders in the governance of the nation. Many Nigeria’s are disappointed that a post independent 46years-old Nigeria is still operating constitution which does not enjoy an overwhelming national acceptance, as evident in the persistent calls for the convocation of a sovereigns national conference on the one hand, and the growing demand for ethnic nationalities on the other.
For about four and half decades since independence, the nation had shifted position between parliamentary and presidential system of government, with several military in cursions into polities over the years. Even the present presidential democratic dispensation is still undergoing experimentation with varying degrees of trial and error approach. It is in the light of the foregoing, that this project on voter registration, is written to serve as a useful tool of enlightenment in the hands of voters, the electorate and the general public.
However, voter registration is a critical aspect of the electoral process. A credible voters register is a prelude to free and fair elections. It is also important for people to know is qualified to vote, where, when and how to vote. Also, a full knowledge of the registration procedure will encourage eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.

    1. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The inefficiency of voting process in Enugu has resulted in a lot of problems. These  problems have continued to obstruct the peace of democracy in Enugu because the choice of a capable candidate is not encourage by the current system. The problems could be emendated as follows.
– The high incidence of multiple voting massive transferred of ballot papers and forging of electoral papers using fictitious names. Indiscrete manipulation and inflation of election figures by electoral commission officers to suit the interest of their favoured candidates.
– Thuggery operation, fear of intimidation and victimization and smuggling of ballot papers into the ballot boxes.
– The fragile nature of some ballot boxes make them vulnerable to destruction
– Lost of votes due to either wrong voting or the case of any of accident occurring during transporting of the statement of result forms and other electoral materials to the collation centers.
– The delay in the generation and announcement of the results which  gives room for other manipulations.
Therefore, there should be change for data handling

ABSTRACT
This research work shows us the potential benefits we may obtain from the computerization of the out-patient information system of the Hansa Clinic Enugu. The out-patient department otherwise called OPD is a place where the out-patient that is patients that receive treatment at the clinic without staying overnight, wait for the doctors to attend to them.
This manual operation of the outpatient information system is normally stressful. But when it is being computerized it will reduce the stress among those working in the out-patient department.
To reduce the stress we use computers which has a great capacity for processing information to work.
ORGANIZATION OF WORK
Chapter one presents the information of the work.

While the chapter five and six are the implementation of the new system and documentation respectively. Recommendations and conclusion are presented in the last chapters, which is the chapter seven
CHAPTER ONE

  1. INTRODUCTION

A clinic is an institution with an organized medical and nursing staff, provide a range of medical service, like surgery, for people requiring intensive treatment or observation. It may also include facilities for childbirth as well as various out-patient departments. A clinic is not make up of various departments where various cases and handled. For example

  1. The surgery department where patients are operated on in the theaters.
  2. Obstetrics and gynecology unit where pregnant women are taken care of.
  3. Pediatric department where you treat children.

An outpatient is a patient who does not reside in the clinic where he/she is being treated. The registers of the outpatients are used for documentation of the outpatients. The documentation of the outpatients. The data for outpatient registers are registration number, name of patient, age, sex, registration address etc.
The outpatient unit is made up of casually section, records, outpatient, theaters, various clinics etc.
The treatment of the outpatients ends in the outpatient department which that of the inpatients ends in their various wards.

1.1     STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
It could be very burdensome for someone who is seriously ill. It wounded or weak to queue on clinic line waiting for the doctor to attend to him or to pay for service and also get drugs.
But when the designing and implementation of a computerize outpatient information system is achieved, a lot of problems will be documented for the outpatient. These problems includes:

  1. Time wastage
  2. Absence of doctors involved
  3. File sorting
    1. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

Hospital organization today is a essential part of the medical care scheme, owing to the increasing complexity of medical problem. It is very necessary that medical practitioners and specialists have an up to data and automated services.
This study will examine the problem arising from manual operations of the outpatient information system and how these can be conquered by introducing the computer. This research work also aims at designing a statement that can replace the manual operations of the outpatient information system

ABSTRACTS
It is a well-established fact, that proper financial management and adequate planning is the bedrock of every successful organization. Reports generated from the accounts are among the major tools used by the management of any establishment for policy formulation, major decisions taking etc.
Account is the statement of money paid out or to be paid out by an organization, and the ones received or to be received.

Due to the trend towards automation in world order, more data and information are generated in lesser time and the processes and procedures of conducting business and keeping account becomes more complex and complicated. The manual form of keeping account become more tedious, inefficient and cost ineffective due to huge material and human resources required.
There is need for an alternative to manual processing of account, which will ensure security of data and account information, data validation and accuracy, efficiency in accounting system, prevent un-authorized manipulation of data etc.
This project work critically analyzed the processes and procedures of manual methods of account keeping and the case study “Grail Movement”, carefully designed new more efficient procedure, which was coded into an intelligent software, using a programming language suitable for database management.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
In a large organization such as the Grail Movement, the account system is the life wire of the administration not respecting the fact that it is a non-profitable organization. It is through proper accounting, that the management can find out their financial performances and the information gotten help them in planning future routine strategies.
Grail Movement is a non-profitable organization, housing other groups, like the flower group, labour group, and catering group. They raise funds within themselves, from the sales of books, willingly, and through individual pledges.

This project is on a computer based accounting system using “Grail Movement” as a test case. This accounting software attained some degree of flexibility. It is intended to track all source of revenue (i.e. money coming in) and liabilities (i.e. expenditures). It is a user-friendly accounting package, which manages the daily accounting operations and provides for the security of the information in the system, input data validation and restricts access to some vital management information.
This software is able to generate reports on demand and statements needed by management for its decision making while promoting the organization functional establishment. This report ranges from individual donations statement of account, trial balance sheet, debtors & debts to profit and loss account within a specified data interval. The report could be viewed on the screen or printed on paper as desired by user.

1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Before now, Grail movement has been using manual method of accounting system. This system is characterized with many problems which necessitated its computerization. Among these problems are:-
– INCONCURRENCY OF ENTERED DATA
Due to human error, the accountant, after entering the right data from the invoice to the appropriate journal, may come back to post-incorrect amount to the general ledger.
– INACCURATE CALCULATION
This is a situation where the necessary addition is not able to balance with the corresponding subtractions. This human error might be due to fatigue.
– FRAUD
Manual accounting system is prone to fraud. This is trough the distortion of data in the account book, cause by unauthorized access to the book and it’s insecurity.
– POOR DOCUMENTATION AND DISTORTED R
