ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to computerize the warehousing information system (A case study of NPA – Lagos) and to develop a computer package, whereby the techniques observed from the manual method can be improved upon. It is a known fact that the manual method of warehousing information system has been associated with lots of inaccuracy in warehousing information system. This has led to some set back that has cost some obstruction on some parts, when in service.
The software, when developed will facilitate and enhance the more and methods of warehousing information system which enables accuracy and also saves time when services and rendered.
There is no intention here, to treat modules separately, hence the entire project is menu driven, to cover most of the facilities present.
Lastly, it is optimistic that at the end of going through the work, one should be able to;
1. Have a clear idea of the project
2. Improve it to suit other organization with regard to other sources and problems.
3. Know what it achieves.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Warehouse is where goods and commodities are kept for further clearance. Narrowing it to Nigeria Ports Authority, there are many warehouse where imported consignment and goods are stored. This is cleared by carrying the billing papers from post to post, waiting and wasting much time in seeing who is in charge. Goods that takes about two weeks to berth into the country takes another two weeks to get cleared. This makes the importers and the clearing agents to run from port to port, in search of where the goods were kept.
The introduction of computer in warehousing will enable importers know which and where their goods are kept, as it will always be stipulates on the bill of laden papers. Computer is hereby seen as a way of handling, by systematically organizing them, recording or making notations on them, following up with the appropriate action or the like.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLE
The processing of billing papers for clearance of goods, with manual method has led to omission of many records that ought to be included. This is caused by inaccuracy of the manual billing process.
Due to the inefficiency in manual billing process, billing papers are carried from post to post, waiting for who is in charge, thereby delaying the goods that suppose to be delivered.
More so, goods are not delivered on time, due to the fact, that goods that takes about two weeks to get into the country, still takes another two weeks to be cleared.

1.3 PURPOSE OF STUDY
The purpose of this is study is to
1. Identify those problems caused by

The topic of the study “Design and Implementation of a Software based Personal Digital Assistance (PDA)” is the one I will be writing about in this project.
The world is in a state of flux and volume of activities awaiting an individual to carry out has become tremendous and in some case complex.
The individual needs to keep and organize his daily, past and future activities. This including keeping records of telephone numbers and addresses of friends and business associate, wedding, contact and business opportunities, list of debtors and creditors and other addresses including menu time table in the home and other private matters that cannot be easily remembered. The computer can be used to store these data organized in a way that a meaningful information can be got from them quickly too.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The study “Design and Implementation of a Personal digital Assistance” (P.D.A) is aimed at developing a software package that will provide the user with a good environment to organizing the personal data and records for easy access and retrieval of information that are in constraint use. Software is the general name for all programs executable by computer system in order to produce the desire result.
A program is defined as a list of logically arranged instruction that is executable by the computer system in order to give the desired result. Therefore software based personal organizer, in this study, refers to the application of computer software in the storage, retrieval and organization of personal data and information. There is no individual, no matter his/her level of responsibility who has ever had the need to keep any sort of records be it mere thought, facts and figures keeping records is like breathing. In human perspectives breathing is good but there is something more than breathing that is being alive.
In the early biblical days facts and figures were kept by making impressions on sticks and stones. When an invitation to attend a meeting for instances is made the inviter usually will give the invitee a stick or palm tree leaf which serves as reminder to the invitee and which the invitee must return to the inviter as the appointed date and time. The invitee will usually lace this sticks or palm tree leaf at his door. This was not a serious problem because in those days there were fewer or no invitations.
In recent times, the volume of records keeping has greatly increased and man has come up with several ways of accomplishing this and these include:
i. Journals are kept to record events that have occurred.
ii. Diary planners are employed to better co-ordinate ones movement and action.
iii. Address books are kept to store pertinent reformation such as contact addresses and phone numbers of friends, relatives, business associate and acquaintances ad
iv. Memo pads for jotting down all purpose notes which are kept within easy reach. All these could be grouped under one namely “DIARY”. The diary can be annual, bi-annual or even perennial sparing five to ten years or more.
This form of diary is called manual type. In the manual type input is made manually hence correcting and updating of information is done by cancellation and rewriting, standard output is by browsing through the pages of the book.
There is another form of organizer named electronic personal organizer. It is an electronic device which look like a calculator which adds digital members. It has a very small screen and an input keyboard. However this type of organizer it not with out it’s short comings some loose all the information stored in them the moment the system battery runs down these electronic organizers the battery operated with low memory capacity.
Today the world is in a state of flux and experiencing quantitative revolution: the primitive intuitive or questionable approach to problem solving, data analysis, storage, retrieval and update are rapidly becoming out molded. The volume of data and information required for storage and easy retrieval has become very large and complex. More so in this ere of e-mail and interface connections with their attendant volume of addresses and business information contacts, there is modern quest for objectives bases for all kinds of decision based on data storage and organization.
A more cursory glance at recent issues of professional and learned journals, internet, or even newspaper and trade journals prove conclusively that there is an increasing use of data, facts and figure. To substantiate business and personal activities and then research conclusion.
Again collection of facts and figures are useful only when they can be stored correctly, organized properly and retrieved quickly. This is another reason why the researcher are embarking on the is very important study.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Historically, there has existed major problems involved on date collection, storage, organization and retrieval. As a result many people still embark on manual organizer of collecting facts and figures. The problems identified or associated with this manual means of data storage and retrieval could be classified as follows:
i. For voluminous data, retrieval of information is difficult and tire some and can be quite frustrating and time wasting;
ii. To update information in manual organizer involves cancellation and alteration of records thereby rendering the job untidy.
iii. Even with the electronic organizer the

1.1 INTRODUCTION
The National Open University was the worlds first successful distance teaching university. Born in the 1960’s, the White Heat of technology era, the Open University was founded on the belief that communication technology could bring high quality degree level learning to people who had not had the opportunity to attend campin universities. However ideas about distance teaching and educational uses for broadcast media had been circulating in Britain for a hald century or more. In 1926 the educationist and historian JC STOBART wrote a memo, while working for the infant BBC, advocating a “wireless” university. In an article for “where”? Magazine (autumn 1962) Micheal Young proposed an Open University to prepare people for external degree. An election was conducted because, the idea was very much, becoming the personal property of it’s header and Harold Wilson won the election, he appointed Jenue Lee, it seems likley that Harolds Wilson idea would have failed her total commitment and tenacity gradually wore down the mountains of hostility and indifference that she faced. In Moscow all they were doing was routine long-term broadcasting and some correspondence courses she had a different vision from that. And she hated the term ‘University of the Air’ because of all the nonsense in the press admit. Sitting in front of the tele to get a degree. The first Vice Chancellor for the Open University was professor Walter Perry – During 1969 the first staff of the University were pushing ahead as fast as we could. Application from potential students were coming in, by the middle of 1990, we know these were enough application to make in viable. In January 1971, the first student began work on their first units of the first foundation courses. The Open University was described as blither nonsense’s in 1969. In the new millennium there is not a university in the land that does not make use of Open University materials and study method. The open university has been faithful on it’s mission of openness to methods. Over three decades we have adopted various new media for teaching and learning. Audio cassettes and later video cassettes gave students more autonomy. Then in the 1980’s, perosnal computers opened up exciting new prosistilis for many courses. By the mid-nineties we began the massive exploitation of the internet that ……. The open university the world leading e-university.

Today more than 180,000, students were interact with the open university, online from home. Every week that exam results were available. The student guidance website receives 70,000 page hits week. That open library receives more than 2,5 million age views and is a major centre for developing information literacy. Many students are also enthusiastic bond. The effectiveness of the interactive courses material that they an access through the web or CD-Rom. The most dramatic development, however is conferencing on the internet where number have rise from 2,000 student in 1994 to 10,000 this year. In the new millenium, it has created the mean to achieve life long learning for all. The open entry philosophy of the open university. The means that excellence teaching, comparable in quantity with other great universities has been available to many more people. The key to the open universities success has been excellent in scholarship in teaching in research and above all, in the systems and methods which help people to learn and to succeed. In addition, the open university is the largest provider of management education in Europe. The National Open University of Nigeria is dated back to 1983 when the then Shagari Administration approved the commencement of National Open Universities. The laudable idea could not be implemented due to lack of proper planning and infrastructural incepts. The imitative was re-awaked in 2002 when the federal government felt that the resurrection of National Open university project would assimilate the displaced satellite camin student of Nigeria Universities which sprang up before 1998 and 2000.

1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS
Historically result processing and publication for National Open University of Nigeria has been affected by several factors based on the current online processing method such as:
a. The line and labour that is involved in computing, processing and publicity the result.
b. Loss of vital information relating to students results and records.
c. Files and records are not saved properly.
d. Information is very insecure and can be accessed by the wrong persons.

ABSTRACT
Point of sales services is very important to every manufacturing organisation. The activities of the shop flow is the major concern of every sales department in every organisation.
The project researched into the activities of shop floor tracking operations, detected the problems involved and prottered reliable solution to the problems because shop floor activities determines the rate of sales of producers, production quality and quantity, stock/inventory control and hierarchy of distributors. Any delay in report about shop floor transactions affects the entire business management, inadequate update and follow-up from the shop floor transactions adversely affects a business in many ways. It the activities of the shop floor is not tracked, the business will not be able to compete in the open market and the internal activities of the business will be a total flop due to lack of promptness in shop floor transaction feedback.
The existing system was modified into a complete computerized system with adequate combination line among the related departments in the system.

The new modified system is very easy to use and very cost effective.

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Shop floor activities in the area of production and marketing is a transaction that requires on-line information flow for effective and result oriented business management shop floor activities involves moving, it extends to every other business transaction area in a firm. The adjustment on every brick of business management depends on the transaction that takes place on shop floor.
Shop floor activities determine The rate of sales of produce, production quality and quantity stock/inventory control and tierarctry of distributors. Any delay in report about shop floor transaction affect the entire business management, inadequate update and follow up from the shop floor transaction, adversely affect a business in many ways. The business will not be able to complete in the open market and the internal activities of the business will be a total floor due to lack of promptness in shop floor transaction feed back which in effects will bring about a comprehensive and accurate up date on stored information about business going-on.

The on-line information tracking system in a shop floor is a welcome approach towards solving the problems of bias business management.
The on – line information tracking system to a shop floor is automatic, timely, very accurate and flexible in reviving and updating information and it generates compretiecsive and reliable report on all sectors that depend on shop floor transaction for the control. The on-line information system is immediate, easy to use, interactive and lost effective, any transaction made on a shop floor is input into the system immediately, the system automatically made actuate entry and expected update on the related area of transaction. During report generation it is done as accurate and timely as it supposed to be
The Paterson zootomic company is my study reference. The company deals with the production and marketing of assorted beauty product. It is a very big company that has mummeries distributor across the nation. The company’s man transactions are performed on the shop floor. Every distributor of the company has a compretiecsive record maintained with the firm every transaction made by a distributor is carefully update against the distributor record. Day-to –day transaction records by the company is equally maintained as adequate for main purpose of controlling inventory and quality of products. The day – to day transaction on pz”s shop floor helps the management to categories .The Company’s distributor according to best performance. The pz company to maintain accurate account status of every of its distributor.
The Shop floor transaction on Pz Company is done in two ways:
On order and supply mode
Come and carry mode
The first mode is the order and supply where the3 distributors place order for products through the letter to the supply department, the supply department receives it, and makes the supply as and when due to the distributor.
The second mode is where the distributor appears in person in make orders and lifts the product immediate in the sales department. In each mode of shop floor transaction, adequate and timely information update is made through the on-line information tracking system to the maintained record of the distributor.

The quantity of lifted product is also adjusted in the inventory control system automatically.
The major distributor of pz are give the option of lifting products and pay back by installation in this aspect, each distributor maintain an accurate installment payments.
The on –line information tracking system maintain a communicating link among all the braches of Business management in pz computerized network system.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The pz-shopping floor is particularly computerized. The existing on –line system is maintaing adequate communication link among all business management areas. It is still very sectional and it does not totally eliminate redundancy.
Duplicate copies of files are still maintained in different section due to gap in date communication among the business sections.

The shop transaction does not immediately update the distributor transaction and account

CHAPTER ONE
THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
INTRODUCTION
Most industrial arm system are driven from magnetic tape or paper tape. A few are driven by a computer which enables them to make decisions.
(1) Using the same computer handles task and trajectory planning as well as controlling the trajectory of the industrial arm system and hand by computer first calculates a trajectory and then executes it by driving the arm along it. Two exception to the kind of system architecture are the control system proposed for the Robot Popeye at the Charles stark draper laboratory.
(2) The stand ford research institute unmated control system is composed of a PDP-10 time-shared computers as a command computer,PDP-15 as a control computer and a Nova 1210 as a sensor.
(3) The system described here consist of a supervisory computer which handles scene analysis, task and trajectory planning routines and a microcomputer which control arm motions, the supervisory computer can be a minicomputer or a time- shared computer.
In the system under development, a HP-2100A is used as the supervisory computer and an Intel MCS-4 microcomputer as a control processor. The micro-compution monitors arm and hand joint potentiometers as well as hand touch and slip sensors and power supply pressure sensors, and maintains current joint position in the stationary mode.
Arm motion is described to the microcomputer in the form of job. A job consists of a sequence of macro-command with joint positions and constraints on force levels and trajectories. An example for a simple job would be!
1. Move to position,
2. Hold project,
3. Move to new position,
4. Release object.
After transferring the job description to the MCS-4, the HP-2100A continues processing global routines. The MCS-4 interprets the macro- commands, executes them utilizing the feedback information from joint potentiometers and sensors, and interrupts the HP-2100 when the job is terminated. It then transfers the final joint positions and status of the sensors to the HP- 2100A and holds the joint in position until the next job request is received.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
There has been a growing realization of the need and importance of industrial arm service because of its role in a developing society like ours. It is because of this role, like speeding of business activities working activities, engaging easy performance of job are expected. It is necessary to find out the problem people encounter with the heavy project of construction. The heavy materials are being handled by the machine called microprocessor-based industrial arm. In fact, we have many problem that this machine can solve like picking hot objects in a industry etc.
If solved, it will surely change the lives of our people and also prejudices in accepting the development as a result of this, the project work is titled the industrial arm.
STATEMENT OF THE SUBPROBLEM
Since my statement of problem state that computer technology is at the center of a new industrial revolution which has trans formed modern life, we must have a sub problem of how it functions, the sub computers that makes it work. Picture of the object you
