1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In the Nigerian Banking system considering the last decade the Commercial Banking to be precise had under gone a rapid expansion both in terms of the number of Institution and the scope of Financial services rendered. As bank licensing was liberalized so was the seed of instability sown in these banking system at the same time.
As these expansion trend continuous, a sign of lacked vision among the investors and the directors motive of quick returns to satisfy the liquidity operation. The word distress has been in existence but increased promptly as these institution increased due to acute shortage of resources and the massive with drawal of deposit by government agencies and other public sectors from these bank.
The development threatened the Financial structure, expose and undermine the economic system which impede development of the economy.
Therefore, distress places a great burden on regulatory authority, depress the economy, undermine the payment system and discourage savings.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Some Commercial Banks have been diverted to assist in loans and advances to various sectors of the economy. And the Commercial Banking is known as refall banking which accept deposit and make payment to his customers. But the Financial condition of some of these Commercial Banking due to the political instability/electoral campaign that is on. Political analyst describe this on coming election to be one of the brutal crisis that is to come. Therefore, there is panic with drawal of fund by these bank customers. This institution is now bogged down by distress, insolvency, poor liquidity due to decline in deposit, and loss of confidence. The crisis has to be averted and the urgency prompted the study. This research work is designed to describe the

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACHGROUND OF THE STUDY
Banking can be aptly described as a high-risk business. For this reason a lot of attention is directed at risk management in banking. The need of such emphasis on risk management becomes even more urgent as banks go apple with large volumes of non-performing assets. This thinking is shared by Rose (1987:54), who points out that while the 1950s focused on techniques for the management of banks assets and the 1960s and 1970s emphasized liability management banking in the eighties was concerned with risk-how to measure risk and how to control risk for the betterment of banks and its customers. This view of risk remains true and on issue for bank management in the lending functions.

It is obvious that the subject matter of “risk” assume considerable importance in determing business success and failures, especially in banking of course, the conventional approach to appreciating that fact in financial management is often linked to inverse between the plausible business outcomes, a high risk heads to more profit value and vice versa.

In banking strictly speaking, we can extend this argument to imply that the more a bank achieves and retains liquidity (less risk) the less it gains in profitability (less returns).
Unfortunately, Uncertainty-another variable also affects business outcomes is not easily understood as in the case of ‘risk” yet we must reckon with the decisive dicey and irrational subjective chances, what do we exactly mean by the term “risk” and “uncertainty”? The answer to these questions forms the basis for the discussion of the overview, which comprise of impact and implications of the term for bank management.

1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS:
The risk of lending can be innumerable sometimes intractable. But there are also riskless loan in the sense that such loans are more than 100% cash collateralized In any case, the number characteristics of risk can only be analyzed meaningfully in the content of specified loans.

For this reason clearing the lending doubts begins with:-
1. Risk identification
2. Discovering and knowing the risk including their structure and incidence.
3. Enabling financial analyst identify in his credit report that a particular loan request can be associated with certain risks.
4. Enable the analysts conceivably identify and give an indication of their nature (risk) and characteristics.
5. Idently and integrating risk

ABSTRACT

This project work, is a computerization of cash receipt system of an organization. It entails maintaining database files of different sources of receipt whose scope and limitation are based on.

Sales and purchases Receipts/Invoices inquiry on Total Balance and generation of report.

But before we venture into that, attention should be drawn to the introductory part, the literature review and later the analysis of the existing system and the design of the new system.

Since, there is constrain in time, this project will not go on exhaustive treatment of every expected module, rather will represent only sales and purchases receipt modules with two other operational modules subset of the broad menu.

Nevertheless, there is provision for onward development of those expected modules and for other sources of receipts and other operations to suit any organization.

It is not the intention here to treat each module separately hence the entire project is menu driven to cover some of the facilities present.

Lastly, it is an optimistic fact that after going through the text, one would be able to

  1. Know what is achieved
  2. Having a clear knowledge of the project organization in relation to other sources and problems.

1.0     INTRODUCTION

Cash receipt generating system is a viable source in any business organization and ventures and so on, its main purpose is to maintain a more reliable records of money coming into the organization firm and money going out from the firm. This is look upon the view that the business organization must have that exchange market with each other. It is a sore fact that the most have been a contract of which, there is an obligatory task that stands the terms of agreement it could be a payment to their client or partners or from their client who pays into their own account. Another thing matters weather it will be cash without remark balance or install mental and how many installment it is going to be.

latest project materials and topics

This is clearly stated in the organization activities and manner of operation. When ever there is payment, there is also the issuing of receipts this is centered on the writing of what each party has in stock.

1.1     JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT

For there to be a computerized business operation, the business most be look upon in new way of existence. No only being concerned with customers, prices output and so forth one should also consider the fact that data forms, information flows, procedures etc. it is momentous on the basic fact that computers are used as a coexisting element to information systems. This application is effective and productive because it enhances to process a more better information system (Automated)

On this work, we shall basically lok upon the possibility of making the outline orderly model of designing effect changes. The process of changing system is systematic such that it is a repetitive process. It is a fact to say that every system has what is called life cycle especially information system. By reviewing and modifying them, we say. It is a system development cycle. The routine is always cyclical. It is on the system development that the familiar input processing output feedback pattern of all systems. The system development contains the output which consist of various organization information systems. The feedback components helps evaluate the effectiveness of the system in terms of changing requirements.

IN THE PROCESSING COMPONENTS WE HAVE THREE PARTS

System Analysis

System Design

System Implementation.

None of these parts can be considered apart from the other two. To be courtesy, I would say that the activities involved in system development is interlinked set.

1.2     DEFINITION OF PURPOSE

The rate of accepting different sources of receipt by the topic of term paper into an organization keeping track of the files can at any time operates the organizations and clients financial report.

1.3     STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Cash Receipt system of Rorban Stores LTD is to keep records of all receipts of purchases and sales made.

By so doing, they keep information concerning each transaction such as the name of client, address, data of transaction, description of goods. Quantity of goods, model number of the goods, the amount of the goods.

Inside this record the company can then know the financial reports of both the clients and the organization itself.

Abstract

Hostels provide budget oriented, sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available. Hostels are generally cheaper for both the operator and the occupants; many hostels have long-term residents whom they employ as desk clerks or housekeeping staff in exchange for free accommodation.
In a few countries, such as the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, India, Nigeria and Australia, the word hostel sometimes also refers to establishments providing longer-term accommodation (often to specific classes of clientele such as nurses, students, drug addicts, court defendants on bail) where the hostels are sometimes run by Housing Associations and charities. In the rest of the world, the word hostel refers only to properties offering shared accommodation to travellers, students or backpackers.
In this research work “Computerized hostel allocation system”, a system will be design to manage a database for allocating hostel to students. The system designed will keep track of all the available rooms, their occupants and fund generated from hostel fee. The new system will be implemented using Visual basic 6.0 and access database.

Chapter One
Introduction

    • Background of the Study

In 1912, in Altena Castle in Germany, Richard Schirrmann created the first permanent Jugendherberge or “Youth Hostel”. These first Youth Hostels were an exponent of the ideology of the German Youth Movement to let poor city youngsters breathe fresh air outdoors. The youths were supposed to manage the hostel themselves as much as possible, doing chores to keep the costs down and build character as well as being physically active outdoors. Because of this, many Youth Hostels closed during the middle part of the day. Very few hostels still require chores beyond washing up after self-catered meals or have a “lockout”.
There are several differences between hostels and hotels, including:

  • Hostels tend to be budget-oriented; rates are considerably lower, and many hostels have programs to share books, DVDs and other items.
  • For those who prefer an informal environment, hostels do not usually have the same level of formality as hotels.
  • For those who prefer to socialize with their fellow guests, hostels usually have more common areas and opportunities to socialize. The dormitory aspect of hostels also increases the social factor

Hostels are generally self-catering. There is less privacy in a hostel than in a hotel. Sharing sleeping accommodation in a dormitory is very different from staying in a private room in a hotel or bed and breakfast, and might not be comfortable for those requiring more privacy. The lessened privacy is also an advantage in some ways, because it encourages more social interaction between guests.
Theft can be a problem, since guests may share a common living space, but this can be avoided by securing guests’ belongings. Most hostels offer some sort of system for safely storing valuables, and an increasing number of hostels offer private lockers.
Noise can make sleeping difficult on occasions, whether from snoring, sexual activity, someone either returning late or leaving early or the proximity of so many people. This can be mitigated by carrying earplugs.

1.2     Statement of the Problem
The growing number of students in higher institutions all over the world has posed a lot of accommodation problem on the part of students and school management. Students at the beginning of each session waste half of the semester looking for accommodation. The few hostels that exist in the universities are not properly managed. Infrastructural decay, dirty environment and lack of basic amenities are some of the numerous problems encountered almost in every hostel at the university. Statistics of the number of rooms required to match the growing number of students are far fetched. Most often, students pay for hostel fee and end up not getting one due to lack of bed space. Hostel administrators can not give accurate information of the occupancy of a particular room. This and many more forms the statement of the problem that necessitated for this research work.

Abstract

In the Nigeria, the driving licence is the official document which authorises its holder to operate various types of motor vehicle on highways and some other roads to which the public have access. In Nigeria, they are administered by the Road Safty. A driving licence is required in Nigeria by any person driving a vehicle on any highway or other road defined in s.192 Road Traffic Act 1988 irrespective of ownership of the land over which the road passes thus including many which allow the public to pass over private land. National driver’s license registration and management system is a research work aimed at studying the registration system in Nigeria, identifying the setbacks, and developing a system that will make use of computerization to enhance driver’s license registration and authentication.

This will in many ways facilitate proper documentation of driver’s license registration and licensing in Nigeria. It will also help Road safety commission track people who are not suppose to drive vehicles due to non issuance of driver’s license.  Hence the implementation will help to generate revenue to government and facilitate timely licensing of driver’s license. The methodology adopted will involve the use of computer for the data capture and the program will be implemented using php-myql,html,jquery.

                                            CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1     Background of the Study

In Bretain, the minimum driving age for a car or van is 17 while a moped or restricted-power motorcycle can be ridden at 16. Anyone receiving Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate (mobility component) may drive a car or van from the age of 16. Until a United Kingdom driving test (which consists of three sections: theory and a hazard perception test followed by a supervised driving examination) has been passed a driver may hold only a provisional licenceand be subject to certain conditions.

The conditions attached to provisional licences of a particular category of vehicle are:

  • L-plates or (in Wales only) D plates (Welsh: Dysgwr) must be conspicuously displayed on the front and rear of the vehicle.
  • Learner drivers of a particular category and transmission type of vehicle must be accompanied by somebody aged at least 21 who has held a full driving licence for that category and transmission type for at least three years, except in the case of solo motorcycles and vehicles of certain categories designed solely for one person.
  • No trailer may be towed, except when driving a tractor or where a full licence gives provisional entitlement to drive a car with trailer, large goods vehicle with trailer or bus with trailer.
  • Motorcycle riders must not carry any pillion passenger.
  • Bus drivers must not carry any passenger except a person giving or receiving instruction.
  • Motorways must not be used by holders of car and motorcycle provisional licences, excluding B+E learner drivers.

In Northern Ireland, learner drivers are limited to a speed of 45 mph (72 km/h), and drivers who have passed their test within the previous year must display “R” plates (restricted) and are also limited to a speed of 45 mph (72 km/h) until the expiry of the restricted period. “R” plates are similar in style to “L” plates, with a thick-set dark orange R displayed on a white background.

After passing a driving test, the provisional licence may be surrendered within two years in exchange for a full UK licence for the relevant kind of vehicle. Full car licences allow use of mopeds and motorcycles provided a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) course is completed (the requirement to have a CBT in Northern Ireland was introduced on 21 Feb 2011). There are no restrictions on newly passed drivers in England, Wales or Scotland (unlike Northern Ireland), but if a newly qualified driver is given six penalty points within two years of passing, the licence is automatically cancelled and the driver must pass the full test again. The six points remains on the new licence until their designated expiry time. It is optional to display newly passed green on white ‘P’ (for Probationer) plates on the vehicle of newly passed drivers.

Motor car licences issued in the United Kingdom distinguish between automatic and manual transmission vehicles dependent upon whether or not a driving test was passed in a vehicle with manual transmission (unless a vehicle test was taken in the UK before such discrimination was made). Whilst a manual transmission vehicle licence permits the holder to drive a vehicle of either kind, an automatic transmission vehicle licence is solely for vehicles with automatic transmission. The licence also shows if a driver requires glasses or contact lenses to meet the legal driving requirements, if known.

Forklift trucks require a separate licence, issued by third-party training companies rather than the DVLA/DSA, which regulate all other vehicles.

Whilst the DVLA has included Welsh on driver licences issued in Wales for many years, requests for Scots Gaelic – also an official language in the UK – to be included on licences issued to drivers resident in Scotland have so far been rejected.

1.2     Statement of the Problem

Driver’s licensing is a job that requires accuracy of data and this exercise is required for every new registration. So a lot of people bring their vehicle to licensing office for registration and driver’s licensing, hence, resulting to the large crowd that is always witnessed in licensing office. This was when the manual system was still in use. Therefore, going by this method of issuing license to drivers, licensing officers encounter a lot of problems which includes:

1.       Multiple registration

2.       Delay in issuing driving license to vehicle owners.

4.       Irregular renewal of driver’s license

5.       Lost of revenue by government due to fake registration papers

1.3    Objectives of the Project

The objective of this study is to design a system that will assist Licensing Office to issue driver’s license to vehicle owners. So the new system will among other things:

1.       Captures and stores data for driver’s license issuance.

2.       Create database for registering new driver’s license

3.       Print drivers license to vehicle owners.

4        Detect double registration.

1.4     Significance of the Study

Driver’s license registration system has held confidentiality, integrity and availability to be the core principles of information security. In the research work carried out, the following are some of the benefits the government will derive from the new system designed.

  1. Confidentiality: The system attempts to enforce confidentiality by detecting double registration during transactions, and use it to track registration information.
  2. Integrity: In information system, integrity means that data cannot be modified undetectably. So, the system designed enables data protection from unauthorised users.
  3. Availability: For any information system to serve its purpose, the information must be available when it is needed. The registration system developed is made available for remote access. Hence it is available for use at any time and from any location.
  4. Authenticity: The data capture in the new system makes drivers license registration authentic as no two persons can share the same data. So, this will remove the issue of double registration.

1.5     Scope of the Study

Licensing Office is responsible for collecting all the state revenue including tax, business permit, vehicle license, driver’s license, etc. This project work will cover all aspect of driver’s license registration.

1.6     Limitation of Study

The research work is limited in various capacities:-

  1. Time given for this research work was too short; hence the researcher was unable to widen the scope of the research.
  2. Only few registration offices could be approached physically and during data collection thereby limiting the no of staff interviewed.
  3. The procurement of classified documents from Road safety commission and the desired operators was a very difficult task.
