CHAPTER ONE
1.1 BACKGROUND TO STUDY
Banks are financial institutions which act as financial intermediaries between lenders and borrowers within the economy. In other words, banks are those institutions established to mobilize deposited form the surplus of the economy for no lending to the deficit sectors. This functions of banks makes them an integral organ in the economy system for the purpose of promoting activities and development.
Banks in Nigeria are presently classified into commercial, merchant and development banks. In recent time, other institution like mortgage houses and the community banks have emerged owing to the government policy of deregulation.
Credits are loans given out by banks in their ordinary course of business. Essentially, the business of barking institution is lending. The fund which the bank lend out are sourced from deposits in the form of demand deposits (current accounts) saving, deposits and time deposits. The banks made their income by lending out at interest rates. Higher than the lending requirement should include amongst other things that.
i. The credit grated is put to use for the purpose intended.
ii. The credit facility is adequately documented withal the supporting documents on the securities.
iii. The purpose for which the credit is granted is funded at appropriate interval as stipulated in the loan agreement.
iv. The repayment on loans are made as and at when due.
v. The customer is assisted in the form of managerial assistance where necessary in the execution of the programe.
vi. The detection of early warning sings of default on credit facilities and to take appropriate remedial actions credit appraisal and management as a process is very essential for banks because poor credit appraisal leads to poorly structured loan facilities. The may result in bad d3gts and losses which reduce the bank profitability and liquidity.
Where the volume of debts is large, a bank may be banks ability to meet facility will be utilized. Given a loan proposition, the analyst examines each of these basic canons, before accepting the request for the further analysis. A proposition may not meet all the canons, but at least it should meet a substantial put of the requirements that will satisfy these analysis.
This way symptoms of a bad loan can be detected at this early stage.
The second stage of credit appraisal is the in depth analysis of he loan proposition. The credit analyst examines some standard considerations such as the amount, purpose of the loan, the sources of repayment, past track records, the analysis of feasibility report submitted by the borrower.
This second stage pre-suppose that the first stage is the administration and control of credit if the credit request is approval this involves proper documentation of all necessary procedures of documentation of the applicants letter the certified loan agreement and the necessary legal documents for adequate perfection of securities. Adequate. Documentation ensures that the banks has valid claims on the collateral in situation of default.
Theoretically where the three step are applied at ceteris paribus management cannot approve credit request not recommended by the credit analyst. However is practices, within the context of he Nigerian financial industry, these basic steps are not often observed in all the banks. This has often lead to the incident of outperforming credit facilities.
A bank like nay other business organization has assets and liabilities.
Its liabilities consist mainly of deposits and shareholders interest. While its assets comprises mainly of its loans advances investment and fixed assets.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Banking is a long term undertaking of which expected funds are committed to enterprise to pay bank within a period of time, for about twenty (20 years depending ion the type of loan. There are following credit granting are:-
1. To discover if credit granted is put to use for the purpose

ABSTRACT

Learning is a knowledge gotten from reading and studying which is an essential need for an individual as well as an organization. Traditionally, learning in a formal way involve somebody who is the teacher, instructor or tuto studying physical to teach the learner usually in closed or secluded environment. Le must move to location of learning (usually a School or Institution in order to learn no matter how far). But with advent of Computer and Network technology (internet), learning has moved from the conventional learning to an electronic media powered formats which distance and location will not constitute a barrier to learning. This project this is focus towards designing a system of distance learning with the help of Computer and Internet using IMT as a case study.

BACKGROUND OF STUDY
1.1 INTRODUCTION
In the fear 1978 two great minds; Professor Chijioke IMT Rector and Director general ABC Mr. Boniface Offokaja Meet and agreed that IMT Enugu should have a program on ABS University of Air (UNI AIR) which is now known as POLY AIR. This was to provide extra opportunity for not 30- fortunate group considering that knowledge as a need for survival like the daily break, the next basic need o fan average Adult in the Education. To be Educated means to acquire knowledge through a formal or informal procedure. Knowledge is the oil that runs the wheel of our industries, our factories, organization, institute etc.
Knowledge helps us to learn well, plan effectively, improve our social status and strengthen sustainable development. After the meeting of 16th January, 1978, it was agreed by both ABC/IMT coming together to use one another to provide service to the nation. The Chief executive (representative) was asked to embust on this most essential viable project. In order to give the program legitimacy and approval accordingly, 1978 requested for further in formation with regards to financing of the program and urged for speedy action. In April, 1978, the dream became a reality when combined labour or IMT/ABC agreed to use both the others facility for this program. The ESB/IMT/POLY AIR progarmme has involved a chain of innovation and disseverment. It is true in the priority area of combating poverty and illiteracy that education is the answer.

The research work is therefore carried with the development of efficient, reliable and accurate Computer based Distance learning system on courses that are been offered in this institution (IMT). This made possible through the Computer programming activity tat is a metal process of problem analysis and design. Presently, it is globally known that most people do not go to school do to want of time and distance. Most of them are either working with technical know how or are into trading and their job do not allow them time to go to be regular student. So with the help of the proposed new system, students can register their courses and receive lectures in their how via a computerized network system.

A number of platform, including programming language design and Network Analysis has been put together to able to achieve the aim of this project.

1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The problem of this project work is centralized on how students could receive the lecture more effectively either through the media (Radio broadcast) or internet system. It has also been noted that most lecture broadcasted over the ratio situation are not sufficient as listeners do not have opportunity to interact with the lecturers and the materials ore not usually composite.

1.0 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The designing and implementation of on-line voting system is a task that come when it suppose to come, the world is a global village, interactions between one part nd another part of the world are within seconds, thanks to internet.
The quest of introducing on line voting system because imperative to curb the menace of election riggings and thuggery during election is it possible? How could it be approach?
The approach is simple and quite easy the masses should be educated on how to register on line, scans of their thumb prints shall be all stared in the computer. On the election day the electorates shell choose candidates of their choice through on-line voting system.
These information should be passed across to the national electoral commission for counting, analyzing and announcement of election results.
To ascertain the possibilities of frond thumb prints of the electorates are companied to that of the on line reiteration. On this note voting are based on registration if you are not registered definitely you must not vote.
The implementation of these on-line voting will save the country the huge resources material and man pincer it loses during an election.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
There has been an enormous growth in the business of commutation since the invention of information Technology on the eighteenth century. The modem days computer machine was first manifested by Charles baddage an English mathematician, in the year 1944.
Even though that radio, television and telephone are all man of communication computer interconnectivity otherwise known as internet is the SAFEST mean that can conceals information.
Information in an internet can only be open if the operator or saver password is thus making it almost impossible for pilferage.
Electronic voting system is quite simple at a mere looking but not too easy in the designing state.
These can be achieved through the interconnectivities of simple portable lap tops will be stone with thumb prints of all the eligible voter in the country. Thumb prints are employs. Since no two persons has the same thumb prints with the thumbprint stored in the computer during voting an individual with choose candidate of his/her choice and seal it with his/her thumbprint if the thumbprint is not pre-stored during registration the voting shall be use less. After the whole exercise all the information shall be all transform to a counting machine which will than print the whole result. For the effectiveness of this means of voting information should be passed round the state with the aide of instructors to educate the masses on the workability of this electronic voting form ran hour in all ramification.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Rigging of election had become the talk of the day. In the third word country, money speaks in election the quantity of money one has determines the position he can be. These need not be so, rigging of election and all other electoral mal-practices needs be curbbal because a stitch in dine saves mine.
Electronic voting system if accepted in this country shall help reduce the menace of electoral malpractices.

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out in order to verify all the manual processes involved in the registration application for school enrollment system and to rectify the impact and implication of introducing machine (computerizing) to the system.
Since the thrust of innovation today continues towards technological advances that enhanced productivity of labour and free human beings of tasks done more economically by machines. In particular, computer and its applications have become indispensable and vital tools in economic, industrial and social development of the advanced countries of the world.
Nigeria as a developing country cannot afford to lay too far behind in this kind of revolution. Therefore, there is every need to know in every discipline the areas which attracts computerization and why they need it.
Classical software engineering principles were applied in the analysis, design, coding and testing of the registration software, serious attention was also given to the design of the user interface. Due to its support for all features desired, Visual Basic was the chosen language for the software implementation. The end result is a software that is very effectively and efficient in meeting its objectives and at the same time user friendly.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Since the creation, there has been constant question by man to improve on the quality of his life and existence. This ever increasing question has been necessitated and propelled by the simple need to address the challenges posses by this environment. Borne out of these needs, a number of inventions have been made in virtually every field of human endeavour. The computer is one of the most spectacular of such inventions.
It is a tool specifically made for computable problems. The present form of the computer is the culmination of the series of inventions and research development spanning over centuries. The beginning of the development of computer can be traced back to over 500 years ago when the Chinese invented the Abacus.
There after, various other computation contraptions were developed. These ranges form manual deices such as the slide rule to purely mechanized devices.

The electronic computer was developed in this century and has given birth to a new filed of endeavourer known as information technology (IT) the world of IT is expanding in scope and yet narrowing in terms of physical distances between user paints.
The computer is functionally reducing the world to a global village in which space is no longer a barren to the exchange of data and information.
In this filed, the computer is not just a passive tool, but it has also enhanced the standard of performance. There are several ways the computer can affect our lives.
These ways are dependent on the application to which we put the computer.
For instance in an Academic environment, there is need for proper documentation and processing of the student’s record. To achieve the desired goal, computer is used to store, process and retrieve student record. This will help to solve the problem of mussing files, results etc. and enhance efficiency in management.
1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM.
The registration and enrollment officers had been coming up with the bitter complaints of how echoes, cumbersome and complication their job is now after series of investigations and observation. It was found out that most of the times, for the registrars to receive information and to work with it, becomes a very difficult task. Even when the information (Registration and enrollment) of the students are made available, documentation becomes a problem. This was as a result of the procedure unloved (manually). For instance, if the student files are to be sorted, it may take months.
This delay in registering and enrolling the students has been the major concern and therefore has intensified the need to design a software which will go a long way in tacking these problems.
